Privacy Policy
Specimen helps you inspect live websites, copy code, frame product shots, and optionally save design specimens to a cloud Lab. This policy explains how we collect, handle, store, and share data.
User data collection
We collect only what is needed to run Specimen:
- Account email — if you sign in to Lab, we collect the email address you provide for one-time passcode (OTP) authentication.
- Gallery content you save — screenshots, titles, prompts, and code you explicitly save to Lab.
- Local preferences — theme and UI settings stored in the browser extension (chrome.storage) on your device.
- Page content in your browser — when you use Inspect, Overview, or Shot Studio, the extension reads the active page’s DOM, styles, and visible assets locally so it can preview and copy code. That reading happens in your browser for the feature you invoked.
We do not collect health, payment card, precise location, or browsing history beyond the active tab you choose to inspect.
User data handling
Email OTP and Lab sync are processed through our Supabase-backed backend for Specimen. Page inspection and code copy run locally in Chrome unless you choose to save an item to Lab. We use your data only to provide Specimen’s single purpose: inspect UI, copy code, capture shots, and sync your Lab gallery. We do not use your data for advertising profiles or credit decisions.
User data storage
- Extension preferences and local drafts: stored on your device via Chrome extension storage.
- Account and Lab gallery: stored on Specimen’s cloud database and object storage (Supabase project used by Specimen), protected by account authentication and access controls.
- Sessions: auth tokens are kept so you can stay signed in across the extension and Lab web app.
You can sign out anytime. To request deletion of your Lab account and saved gallery items, email team@sammyjoze.com from the address on the account.
User data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not transfer your data to third parties for their own marketing. We use infrastructure processors solely to operate Specimen (for example, hosting, auth email delivery, and database/storage). Website content from pages you inspect is not uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly save to Lab or authenticate. We may disclose information if required by law.
